ESC question

Great planes has just come out with this new Rim Fire brushless/outrunner motor and an 8-amp ESC and they clame that the two are perfect for each other. The only thing is the motor is rated at 11A and 15A surge. And I am an electric newbie, and already bought all the stuff on friday from GH. Will this setup be okay for a foamy (enough power for 3D)??? Will it damage anything because of the difference in Amps???

It will be fine if you use it correctly. Performance should be similar to an AXI 2208/34.

Those ratings are nominal. It would be nice to match or exceed the motor power capability with the controller but there are so many variables. The number of cells you use, the size of prop you use and the way you fly will determine what you really need. Get yourself an ammeter or "Whattmeter" and Prop the aircraft so it doesn't pull more than 8A static and you'll be golden. If the controller is any good you'll also be able to exceed 8A for short periods without any problems.
