In the days before I used fuel with a % of castor I was forever changing bearings, esp in my 4-strokes ... got quite good at it. Using after-run made little difference and it was hard to get inside of ever-larger models and swish it around.
Since switching to Omega (and sometimes Byron) 5% for 2-strokes and 15% for 4s, I have not needed to ... and it's been several years: with no after-run.
Synth oil breaks down at a lower temp than castor. Why do you suppose Moki (Mark) insists on castor?
What will protect you from the occasional inadvertant lean run?
I will put up with some black burned residue on the outside of the muffler: there are ways to deal with that.
