Flying Tigers Scale Aerobatic contest $$ money saver!!

We are all interested in seeing Scale Aerobatics grow in Canada. It does the sport of Scale Aerobatics a world of good. Just look at all the equipment available to us now as a result of the sheer numbers interested in this aspect of RC and the more competitors we have at an event, the better the event

If you are competing this year, why not take some time and try to think of an RC buddy to bring along to an event either to compete in Basic OR just to observe. They will have an opportunity to talk with other Scale Aerobatic flyers, see their planes, ask questions about engines, radio gear, hardware, the aerobatic sequences, building and flying techniques etc etc.

It just might get their juices flowing and we could see new competitors at future Scale Aerobatic contests.

To kick this off, The Flying Tigers will offer any competitor $10 off their entry fee if they bring along an RC flyer that is normally non competitive in Scale Aerobatics to compete in Basic or observe the contest. Gentlemen, you are on your honour.

We challenge other Scale Aerobatic CD's to promote the growth of Scale Aerobatics in Canada in a like manner

Think of it this way, you have a personal obligation to your RC friends to show them just what they are missing.

Fee schedule:
14 and under - Free

Students between 15 and 18 inclusive - $10 OR Free if you bring an RC buddy as described above.

Over 18 - $25 OR if you bring an RC buddy as described above - $15

Thanks guys and lets have some fun

Hey Brian, if I bring along 3 RC Buddies, does that mean you owe ME $5.00 for competing?

I think this is an awsome idea. What a great way to promote scale aerobatics. I know, it worked for me. I was invited to a contest just to watch and see what it was all about and when I did, I was hooked!

You fellows are doing a wonderful job of organizing this contest Brian. It should be a great event. Look forward to being there and seeing everyone! So come on guys, bring along a friend, get involved and have some fun!

Some vg ideas here.
Two other things occur to me too.
1-Dont give up if your clubs event is less than a complete success the first year or for one year.It takes a while to get established.

2-In our part of the world gas is pushing $1/litre and a motel room at your average super 8 is > $100 a night.
Anything that can be done to help long distance competitors with these expenses is very positive.
There are usually second level smaller but clean and quiet motels in most centers, that dont/cant do much advertising.Seek one out, reccomend it in your promotions and try for a group rate.
How about gas vouchers instead of trophies or another tool set as prizes?

ten bucks off

Great idea Ron and Brian Anything to bring in some new blood is good, and makes these events so much better for everyone.

We'll look into doing soomething similar for the NOIC. As of now it looks like we will have many Basic flyers at our event, as our IMAC training nights is startng to get general interest up in the whole city. What we are doing is having a IMAC trainng night one day a week that's open to all clubs (we have three in the city). We don't ask for money, just bring your enthusiasm to learn and an open mind to competition. Seems to be working so far..

Unfortunately I can't attend this year (on call) but I am making it next year for sure

Great to see IMAC doing so well in Ontario.

IMAC training night! That's a good idea Lee. A few of our members have recently indicated interest and we are just beginning to help them out starting this week. A night established just for IMAC training sounds good.

Any more ideas guys??
