I did have a 150GK a little over a year ago. It looked like I wasn't going to use it and so I sold it. I regretted the sale as soon as i finally got a decent deal on an Ultimate kit.

So now I am shopping for another Saito 150.

I had a Saito 150 on a Goldberg Ultimate. You won't be sorry with the 180,the 150 was awesome.I could do square loops and corners with it. Needless to say vertical was outasight. If I had my choice it would be Saito over YS.

Hello Claude:

Is your CG Ultimate the kit that was introduced to the market almost 20 (or more) years ago? I have, what I believe, is one of the first kits produced, in my attic. After reading your post I am energised to take it down and start building. It's been a while since I built a kit - I got caught up in the ARF craze. If you're considering 3D type flying, what if anything do you plan to modify? Larger control surfaces?

Yes, I have an older kit. The exact year this one was produced I do not know. Would that be marked on the box or instructions somewhere?

Midair: Take it down and build it! Mine is probably about the same vintage as yours. Tell ya what. I'll give you some time to dust it off and setup your building space. The how about we both get started on cutting balsa and glueing right after christmas. We'll progress throught these together and swap pictures as we move along. Easily by spring we'll both have fresh Ultimates to maiden. Sound like a good idea?

I am still wobbling a little on what will be the best the power choice. I do want it to be 3D capable, but it will generally not be flown as such as I have other planes for that stuff. As far as mods go I haven't listed them all out yet, but the will include some glass re-enforcing of high stress areas such as wing roots. Flying wires on the tail. Slight increase in rudder and elevator sizes as well as counterbalancing of the rudder. The wing and ailerons will be left as is.

Power is going to be a Saito. But yet to decide on which. The 180 seems a bit much, the 150 seems perfect, but dang that new super light 125 sure looks like a good choice too. I've got to decide soon though. the box is opened and the glue is sitting there on the bench next to it. :P

Update. Thanks to fellow RCC, I now have a nice fairly fresh Saito 180 on the bench beside the Ultimate. This summer we'll find out if it was the right choice or too much. Hey, I can always throttle back or just limit the throttle servo end point

Now on to the building storm
