Goldberg SU-26 Gear

I have an old SU-26, gear on wing. Had a deadstick and had to put the plane in the thick. No damage other then the gear is a little loose. I understand this was a common problem with this plane. I did not build the plane so I have no insight as to repairing it. Anyone out there ever have the same problem and if so, how did you repair it. Thanks

Aahhh haaa!!

I had one of those, nice flier but on the gentlest landing the gear would rip out!! Mildly annoying

We, (propworn and I) eventually glued chunks of Hockey sticks (we're Canadian dontcha know, we'd use 'em to build our houses if we could get 'em big enouff!!) in the rib bays for the gear to bolt into. After that I didn't have the gear rip out anymore. Course there was the time the my trusty Saito conked out and I deadsticked it into a bean stubble field and broke the fuselage in 1/2. Mildly annoying.........

I ripped out the gear on my CG Sukhoi twice and finally decided to get serious about doing the repair. It looked a bit strange but I modified the fuse in front of the wing and mounted the gear to the fuse instead of the wing. That lasted about a half dozen flights until I had a battery failure and went in at full throttle in the last 1/4 of a loop. Big Ouch and slightly more than "mildly annoying!!! ($#@&^%)!!!

Believe it or not the fuse was only slightly damaged but the wing was toast! Its been sitting in my shop for the last four years waiting for me to get into the wing kit I purchased. I will eventually get her flying again. I loved that airplane! It flew awsome with a 1.50 Saito but I will now put my 1.80 in her. Three of the best planes I ever flew were the Goldburg Sukhoi and the Goldburg Super Chipmunk AND I learned to fly on the Goldburg Eagle II. They were and still are wonderful planes to build and to fly!

the gear pulls the plywood plate out every time

I use 1/4 x20 nylon bolts (wing bolts) tightened real tight - lots of stress
last couple of mis-haps have had the gear pop off - not real damage otherwise

nice flying plane though
