I am paying 80cents a litre for diesel, and get over 55 mpg in my Volkswagon TDI. I am surprised with the complaining when there are more Vans, Trucks, SUV's on the roads these days than ever before.

The oil companies are in business like any other retailer, I don't hear people complaining about the price of bottled water, what's the spread on raw vs retail price, how much carbon tax, road tax, royalties...

The oil companies are currently investing Billions to meet the new Sulfur regulations in gasoline and diesel, who should pay for this? Who should pay or all of the new refining facilities required to run synthetic crude oils. Conventional sources of crude oil are drying up in this country and you can be sure the price of synthetic crude oil will cost more in the years to come as the demand from China, India and developing countries push for this limited product so they can enjoy the western way of life.

If you want to have some control over the cost of energy become more efficient in how you consume it.
