F/G Cowl and Monokote?

OK I have an Aerotech Extra 300 I am working on and just trying to paint the cowl. I tried matching the Insignia Blue Monokote that the top half of this 84" beast is covered with to their own brand Insignia Blue spray paint but the colour ain't anywhere near close so I thought maybe I could apply the Monokote to the F/G cowl.

So how would I do this or can I? Should I paint the cowl with Balsarite then just use a heatgun and perhaps the TopFlight mit to apply the Monokote or what?

Monocoat on F/G cowl

I have put monocoat on plastic cowls using low heat so that the plastic would not melt. Work a small area at a time applying heat and streaching the monocoat over the curves . Balsaright should help . The plastic cowl was for a Sig Kougar and also the head rest on an astro hog Hope this helps you.

I've had good success getting paint matched exactly to various covering colors. I cover a scrap piece of balsa with the covering I want matched and take it to my local auto supply guy. He computer matches it and "viola", I go home with a spray bomb. Beats covering plastic.
