Clear acetate / windscreen material

I just love when a repair turns into a major rebuild. Since I am redoing some stuff on my Spacewalker II I have decided to put in new windscreens. The current ones are checked from age etc.

They are flat screens so they do not have to be vacuumed formed.

What is everybody using that is relatively easy to work with and doesn't easily crack or check over time. And where do you get it.

Thanks guys.

Look for a one liter plastic pop bottle clear in colour then trace the windshield pattern on it and cut it with a pair of scissors. The pop bottle can also be used to form cowls and bubble canopys using a heat gun and a wooden form to pull it over it. To do this cut the bottom off the bottle then put the form inside and heat the bottle till the plastic gets soft and shrinks around the form. You may have to push the form to get the plastic to surround the form. When cool cut it out . I have made a bunch of canopies this way and it is easy to do. Try spad site for further info.

A few years back I purchased a whole large 4' X 8' sheet of clear plastic to make windows and such for my planes. To this date I still have about 3/4 of it left. If you need some John, let me know! Its yours for the asking my friend!
