GWS receiver problems

I've been using a GWS Naro 6N receiver single channel conversion, with my Airtronics RD 6000 and for the last year no problems but out of the blue now it just goes nuts and everything just glitches and chatters. I tried and new crystal and the same. I've tried a different channel for my other receiver (Radiant ) and no go.
I bought a new receiver and still the same chatter and wonky behavior.
I next changed the switch and no change so I was thinking that maybe the flight battery pack had a short so I changed that and still no resolution.
Last resort was to install a dual channel Airtronics receiver and now everything is fine.
So my question is what is going wrong here and has anyone else encountered this.

What type of aircraft? A receiver might do this in a heli if a bearing goes bad, for example.

Thanks. It is installed in a small 4 stroke powered WWI aircraft. I had thought that maybe the motor vibration had something to do with this and that was why I tried a different receiver crystal and then a new receiver.
