Wing design

I have noticed that pattern wings are tapered while stunt wings are bascilly constant cord. Is there a reason for this? Im guessing that tapered wings roll better while stunt wings grab more air for cornering. Any thoughts anyone?

Just a guess.

It's probably because the wing is easier to build. All ribs are basically the same.

There have been U/C stunters with tapered wing and chord in the past.

The wing takes longer to build from plans and you can't build them easily on just a flat table.

It is my experience that c/l stunt planes with flaps that do not have the hinge line perpendicular to the fuse centerline are difficult to trim properly. On the other hand, advanced stunters usually have a tapered leading edge to go with the straight trailing edge. This goes back to the classic era; e.g., the Nobler.
If it doesn't stink, it's not a diesel.
