Make your own CA tips.

CA tips that you buy at the hobby store can be expensive if you use them up quickly. They always plug up and you end up cutting them down until they no longer serve the purpose of being able to apply a controlled drop.
But when you run out of them it becomes very inconvenient if you can't get to the store right away. Here is away you will never have to buy another CA tip.
1) Save your Windex bottles and remove the dip tube.
2) Cut the dip tube in about 2 " lengths with a knife.
3) Stick a piece of steel rod (about 4"-6")in one end of the 2" cut piece of dip tube. This is so you can hold onto it when heating. If the steel rod does not fit, just grind a taper on the end and push it into the dip tube about 1/8".
4) Push a smaller piece of steel rod in the other end of the dip tube, aprox 1.5" long. Grind a flat on this piece so as to not trap any air in the 2" length of dip tube.
5) Heat up the center section of the dip tube with a heat gun or torch until the tubing starts to turn clear. Rotate the tubing while heating, to heat uniformly. (It doesn't take a lot of heat)
6) When the tube material turns clear grab both ends of the steel rods and slowly pull away from each other.
7) As you are pulling (stretching) the semi molten dip tube, you will see that the tubing is getting thinner and thinner. Stop pulling when you think you have a small enough diameter in the middle.
8) Hold the assembly until it cools.
9) Remove the tubing from the steel rods and trim each end to push fit over the CA bottles spout.
10) Cut the formed tubing in half and you should now have 2 CA tips.
This might take a bit of practice but once you get the hang of it it works great. I usually make about 30-40 tips in one sitting.
Get a baby food jar and put in some acetone. Store your plugged tips in the acetone and it will clean them out. The dip tube material is not affected by the acetone.
Good Luck

I got lucky; my son brought home about a thousand disposable pipette tips from the lab and I merely have to cut off the large end to fit the CA bottle in question and there I go.

If it plugs, I got hundreds more. Mind you, the way I keep having to mend balsa, that's only about 18 months supply.
