Funny you bring this up, last week I jammed the tipped of my finger in a .46 at full throttle. LUCKY I was tuning the engine and my finger hit the back of the prop so it took the reverse angle of the prop and just numbed my finger for an hour.

Nony, my comments are not directed at you, they are directed at the original author of this thread as they state this is not the first time they have done this.

I just hope that if it happens to me I have the good fortune of not causing permanant and severe damage.

How bout we keep our hands out of props, and let this be a visual reminder. Luckily David will live to fly again!!!

David, thanks for the warning, and I'm sure you posted this as a warning. Noin and Nony, get along, and keep your fingers out of props too.

To everyone else, please be careful out there! Those props turn darn fast!

Honestly, I've seen way too many people who don't seem to be wary enough of the fronts of their planes. I think it gets taken for granted, and prop bites will always happen. Hopefully, they won't be serious cuts. I am just as guilty as everyone else, so I'm not on a pulpit here. I'm just making an observation.

Be safe everyone!

Mike

I was stupid enough to put my fingers through the path of a 16x6 prop being spun by a YS 110fz (in a hurry, tuning it on the bench). Good thing it was idling, only 5 stitches in one finger and 5 in my thumb. Like others have said, these machines demand respect and learning that respect can be bloody and painful.

Saw the pic; looks sore but no big deal.

Feeding the side/base of the thumb into a carbon fibre 9x4 on a KB6.5, peaked out on 60% nitro, provides a much more interesting aspect. Well over twenty years later the stitch marks are still evident....

Meh...in september I cut the top of my forearm with a 40LA turning a MAS simitar 10X6 at idle. Dont ask me how my forearm got in the way, I honestly cant say how that moment of brainfartedness happened. Anyway, the prop cut through the skin all the way into the fatty tissue. I had 4x 1inch+ cuts on my arm. Required about 12 stitches to close up.

The doc was amazed to see me playing with my wound in the waiting room. Yet for some reason he refused to let me see him close it up.
