Yeah, you feel like crap for the next couple of days, but the important thing is to get over it and move on...

Yipes.........It's that 3-4 second delay when you hear nothing and you wonder if it was really true that it went in...and then comes the dreaded "THUD" and the reality kicks in......... it's GONE!!!

Lol, I lost my mini edge yesterday. It was the replacement for the mini funtana. I got these as I was having problems with my engine for my Giles. I had bought a new engine, but the bloody thing wouldn't run. I had it on the shelf for about a month, while I flew the mini's.
(I've had a bad month) I took the Edge out for maiden on Saturday, things went OK, except it was tail heavy, manageable, but still not right. I took it home, adjusted the balance, and found the wings were twisted. I fixed it all up, loaded up on Sunday, and took the Giles, just for 1 more kick at the can. I thought I'd take up the Edge first. Well, it flew very nicely straight into the ground. The thing had a wicked down trim somewhere, and while I was trying to trim it, I lost orientation, and flew it into the ground. I was devastated. Not a single flyable airplane left. I was ready to have a bonfire. Literally (I had a full gallon of fuel with me). Then I thought I may as well try the Giles. I set up the carb to starting settings again, and the thing fired right up. I flew it twice until the fuel ran out. That made everything all right. Even when the rudder tore off on a landing!!! To answer your initial question. I care about my planes. The ARF's I find hurt alot less, but the pain is still there). I think, deep down, we all do. Otherwise, you'd be able to go to a field and get somebody to just crash the thing on a dare. Maybe there were sunspots or solar flares or something yesterday? Mike |

You'll meet a new plane and you'll get over the "break up".
There are four steps to recovery denial sadness anger acceptance Sounds like your to step 2. of course neutral elevator, throttle, opposite rudder and up elevator would have been better steps to recovery but it's too late now.

Wait till you crash something big, like a 1/3 scale edge you can add sick to stomache between 2 and 3

Maybe this explains why I fly such miniscule models!
I pounded my Baby Bee into the ground at near full throttle the other day with VERY minimal damage. The thing is just too light to hurt itself! Sorry to hear about your plane. Losing any of my planes would be a threadworthy heartbreaking experience! Nice way to look at the silver lining though; dreaming about a new plane! |
