Does an event become "national" simply by declaring it such? Usually where there is a governing body it determines what is "national".

Who cares!!...if someone is willing to take the bull by the horns and getting something done, support it, why question whether it is national, regional or international?....it doesn't matter, important thing is that it is happening.

Good luck with it Palmer!

Does it replace the MAAC nationals, well that is up to you. I do believe that the people involved, with the combined experience will put on one heck of a show.
This organization is in place to make sure we have a Canadian Competition each and every year without all the BS that is on the other post.
The survey say " yes get her done" book your holidays and enjoy.
........ah, by the way. It was your group that started the BS on the other thread, instead of simply announcing this obviously pre-planned event in the first place. You wind up hurting your event before it even get's started with those transparent tactics.

That aside, Bravo. I think this is exactly the way a big event should be run. Events need to stand on their own and not have a MAAC safety net under it.

I doubt the vast majority care whether you call it a National Championship. I know I don't. Heck, call it the Galaxial championship. Your event, your people, your risk, your call.

Arguably, the most pretigious Scale event, Top Gun, has been run that way and nobody questions that the winners there are the top of the Scale heap.

Just do it.

If you really want to make it a national championship, organize other hosts to hold 4 or 5 qualifier across the country, seek out some private sponsorship and make the top prize in each event a round trip to the "Title" event so you can actually claim the best in the country are there?

Good Luck.

Good Luck with the event! Build it and they will come, and as an annual event it will hopefully be good time to be had by all, over and over and over! Hopefully in a couple years I'll be in a position to make it out that way. Even if I were'nt to compete, I'd sure have a blast just watching!

Very interesting...

I will need more info first, as this did come out in a very...hummm...'special' way, but like everyone else mentioned, it could be the start of a very good, regular event.

I will need more info first, and provided things add up (everyone has their own criteria) I would throw in my support as well.

Who's at the top of all of this? Please get in touch. Thanks!
