Thats too bad. I can understand where you are coming from as there has been a lot of crap going on lately as far as politics goes, especially in the SW zone. I feel for you, having to walk away from such a great hobby. I don't know if what is happening down there is exactly what your disgusted with or if there is a situation that I am unaware of. Perhaps getting out of competion but still flying other types of planes would limit the amount of politics you are exposed to. I have been flying for over 20 years and just started to think about flying in the 2006 Nats. Thats when I became aware of all the crap involved in competion. I have had 20 years of pure flying enjoyment, the moment I thought of competing I was exposed to the sometimes sour world of competing. Now I am not so sure thats for me. Flying meets where everyone gets together for the ove of flying planes is very relaxing and beautiful for me. I don't know what other interest you have but if they include competing in any way you will always have to deal with people and their politics. Sometimes it is great to be out flying alone. I used to belong to a club that had 5 members including me and 3 of them never showed up. The other only came out if I called him and told him I was going out to fly. It was nice at times to be the only one there. I have moved away from that area now so I can no longer go to fly there. Its hard to have politics in a club like that. I don't know you at all, so I don't know if this applies to you but perhaps before you sell everything off, just sit on it for a year and see how bad the bug is to go fly. You might ot be able to resist it.

Take care.

Just fly for fun and don't get into the politics.

I got out of it (politics) and felt much better. As long as there is a field to fly at it's OK.

Next year I will fly with a few guys in the mornings and we will have a good time.

Hope you reconsider. There are always alternatives.

It's too bad the politics wreck the fun. I remember the days of just show up and have fun. Just sit on the planes until the BS dies off. It may take some time, but usually the people starting the $hit get seen for what they are sooner or later. I hope to be establishing a field this spring. Have already been out on it with my Tiger with skiis. Your welcome to come out and fly with us. Depending on the members. Mostly new to the hobby, I could sure use another instructor. My rules for the field is that everyone must say three times before flying, "they're only toy planes, they're only toy planes, they're only toy planes" Just bring a plane and fly it.

In theory, everything works.

Combat in the Ottawa are is strickly for fun! No score No points to accumalte et etc . We show up on a Friday night fly 4-5 rounds of Open B and turn on the BBQ for Bring your own beef night! Yup just combat for fun. We don't play every week but whenever the mood strikes the group!

Don't let "those without lives" put you off. If you look a little closer, you'll find the people who actually compete are not the ones directly involved in the politics.

It's sad that a few will use larger events (competitive or not) as a vehicle for their own petty motives....

Just don't get caught up with it, see it for what it is ... noise... and get on with the fun. It's sad that many equate competition to politics .... politics are not something you see much of at actual events. They do happen before and more often after the competition is over.... you seldom see the loudest blowhards attending any events, let alone actually volunteering or ....

C'mon this announcement for April Fool's day. You can't're like a combat father figure to most of us. You defy modern physics with those astronomical wing loadings, you can land a warbird at full throttle and not even break the prop, you can tow more streamers than a Cadillac in a ticker tape parade. Heck...the Canadian Nats title would of gone to an American if it wasn't for you.

But if you really are going...I'll take the JR receiver with the cracked case and 2 splices in the antenna. Merry Christmas buddy!!
