I think it can be bought in the USA.

The problem is getting it across the border.

Got my ether from the quick start cans too. Think I wasted more than I got in a quart plastic bottle. Also at that time you could buy the amyl nitrate at the drugstore. A quart lasted quite a while as they were a miser on fuel. Also you had to use it up as I think the ether wouldn't store long.

Will keep almost indefinitely in tight-sealed glass or metal containers.

Plastic jugs are not recommended as the 'fine's permeate through the walls. High-nitro glow fuel, too, goes 'off' in plastic.

I think you'll have the best success with a built diesel versus a conversion. My choice for a diesel is the PAW, I have several. Setting up a diesel is a bit tricky, but practise makes perfect right? The biggest enemy is too much compression. You can literally destroy a connecting rod and piston in a flight with too much compression. Better to set it a bit low and get the feel for it. As you install bigger props you need to reduce compression as it runs hotter. Just to give you an idea of how big a prop you can swing ... on my PAW 35 I run a 12x7 at 6500 rpm. I converted a HP 61 to diesel, with a 16x8 it almost tore my test stand apart.

Diesels

One way to keep your diesel fuel (fresh) is keep it refrigerated. Two things are required for this.
1. Room in the frig
2. Understanding wife

Note:
One of these requirements can be difficult

That's good to know.

I have a mini fridge that will be going into the garage and I also have some brown bottles.

Now all Ii need to do is buy a larger diesel engine!

Cheers

I operate model diesels and glow engines and electric motors. Each has their advantages. I was cautioned years ago to never store diesel fuel with ether in a refrigerator because of the possibility of a spark leading to real embarassment. I use the backpacker fuel cans to store my fuel. When I get a gallon, I decant it into several fuel cans. These are designed for gas and have very good seals. If you want to adjust your venturi size, get a Bruline filter, pop out the filter, and use it to cut out some blank circles cut from the bottom of an oleo or Cool Whip container. Then punch different size holes in your circles and put one at a time in the filter housing along with the filter to hold it in. You can then test each different size to find the one which works best with your carb. This was a tip from Davis Diesel--I didn't come up with the idea myself--but it does work. Also, I wouldn't convert any glow engine to diesel if it doesn't at least have a ball bearing supported crankshaft. One of my PAW's has plain bearings, but they were designed for the loads. Good luck, Dzl

Thankyou for that very important information.
