Egad! This is exactly what will happen!

Or thinner, eve 1/32" ... with polyurethane glue to fill the gaps, light on the glue application.

Good question and I'm sorry for your dilemma.

I hate wasting product as much as the next guy BUT by adding this/sanding that, I kinda have a feeling that whatever you do (short of cutting it all out and starting over again), you won't be happy.

It's gonna be a)too heavy, b)sanded through in places, whatever.

Only a suggestion but can you just remove the sheeting and replace it with new sheeting in the suggested manner?

It might save you headaches in the long run (both from a time point of view trying to fix something that may or may not work out to your satisfaction) by just cutting/dremeling off the sagged sheeting and starting over.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

Success! As a last ditch effort, I skimmed on a very thin coat of filler on most of the contest balsa sheeting. I then sanded until I could see the wood, but not feel the grain. This worked well because I got rid of the valleys and made a pretty nice surface all over for covering. I would not recommend doing this intensionally, but it did save me from removing all the sheeting and starting over. Thank you everyone for your advice.
