Has any one put a OS 1.60 in a Hanger 9 Extra 260 and did you have to
add nose weight to balance it.

Put this out for your advice : H9 Extra 260 or Greatplanes Yak54
: with a OS 1.60 or super tigre 2300
: or small gas , Taurus TS 42 type
No 3D ,, basic IMAC

The H9 Extra 260 is 27% so that might be pushing it for the OS 1.60. I know you don't want 3D but you want to be able to do nice easy loops and hammerheads. You don't want to be clawing for altitude. That said it is only 78" span and the CG Yak is 77" so .H9 lists from 1.20 to 2.20 for 2 stroke so that's a pretty big spread.

The GreatPlanes Yak with the Taurus 42 or Fuji 34. At a WS of only 77" the CG yak would work well with the OS 1.60.

Here is a link to the GP Yak http://www.greatplanes.com/performan.../gpma1411.html

Here is the Goldberg http://www.carlgoldbergproducts.com/12043.htm

I like the Greatplanes colour scheme better. Plus that extra 4" will make a difference in flight.

If you can go with gas. It will pay for itself in the long run. All these planes are a little to small for something like a DA 50 though. Well maybe the GP Yak but you might push the wing loading up a little to high and have to come in hot. A ZDZ 40 or the MVVS 45 would do well in the GP Yak.

Hmm I think I have almost talked myself into one.

The 1.60 would be fine for the 260 or GP Yak for everything except extreme 3D.

Should be easy to balance, use a pull-pull for the rudder.

The ST 2300 would probably be enough for the GP Yak, but would be lacking for the 260 or GB Yak.
If you have your choice, go with the 1.60 over the 2300.
Jims advice is good for the Gas engines!

I have an extra 260 with a gas 42cc, it flies SUPER LIGHT with this set up and is a little tail heavy with the servos in the back. In my opinion the perfect engine for this plane is the DA50, hands down, my 42cc is unlimited but the 50 would be just enough more.
