Wow...I have to laugh when you say that. It is so right. It was amazing that glue, wasn't it? I even remember trying carpenters glue and hot melt rubber glue before i discovered it. Peter Allnut from MAAC F/F was pushing me to get a rubber bander ready for the youth championships in Yugoslavia and I couldn't afford the glue. (Laughing out loud right now.) I remember using my mothers hairdryer to speed up the drying of the elmers on my rubber-bander, I even remember "subbing" it for dope on the tissue. Nothing was fast enough. Or as light.

This hobby really has come a long way. The gentlemen now who are in their sixties/seventies and modelling have seen incredible progress, and I wonder sometimes what it will be like for us someday. The micro turbine stands out in my mind right now. It has heralded a huge leap in R/C aircraft tech for those who can afford it. But like everything else, someday we'll laugh about how expensive they used to be.

Anyhow, do you have a regular column? Is there someone specific I should speak with?

re: the magazine stuff, email me & we'll take this off line to tell you more..

Back to glue - as a side note... building my very first model, a built up cabin stick & tissue back in, maybe 78'?? , I had only Testors plastic model cement. I used that for the wood to wood, and for applying the tissue. I remember reading about using "dope" and not having a clue what they meant. Funny stuff... memories

I used to go halfs on a bottle of CA with my buddy I built planes with. It was so expensive back in the 80's... relatively speaking - could buy two big tubes of balsa cement for one small bottle of CA.
