Active Member or Just Flying?

This poll comes out of a dispute I had with somebody at my club. It was over why we can't get people to fly for the airshow. I'd thought I'd pose this question you guys so we can see who's right. I won't tell which side I'm on to aviod corrupting the results.

So, are you an active member of your club or are you just looking for a place to fly?

I'm on the executive of my club, so not much option

The sooner you fall behind, the more time you will have to catch up.

let's see
held every position the club has from president to gopher

so ---

I don't generally fly at our club annual fly in - so the folks travelling here can. -I'm a frequency hog well not really
I do fly at the NOIC as a competitor,as does our co-cd Lee - but contests like the Noic are actually less stressful from a CD perspective - there's no need to cajole or otherwise get planes into the air

I have more fun if I'm involved in the direction things go -

Just started out again, so new at the club.

Last year I helped at one club combat event and at the Nationals.

This year I'm on the mower race team, no events scheduled yet.

Most clubs that I've been involved with seem to have a close knot of members who seem to do everthing while the majority just sit back and enjoy them selves.
I like to be involved, but not in commitee type of way.

Lets see I was Treasurer of the MMFC for 7 years in a row and now Secretary for Flying Tigers, second term.

I Also am club webmaster, co-CD for club SA/IMAC contest and help out other ways when I can.

Our club is contemplating a levy against members whom don't partake or help out at club functions or events. The idea being pay up front - help or attend two functions and you get refund. Still in the works.
