Rule of thumb-- engine size to model weight?

Just wondering what a good rule of thumb to use for engine size/airplane weight would be?
ie 30cc -15lb plane,
40cc -20 lb plane.......
I know there are lots of variables, but is there a general rule of thumb?
and would it be different for gas/glow?

What kind of plane? Cambered scale plane or symmetrical aerobatic thoroughbred? The cambered scale birds need FAR less power.

For aerobatic ships - Extra, Edge, Yak, etc...

50cc up to 17-18 lbs
75-80cc up to 24-25 lbs
100-110cc up to 30-31 lbs
150cc and up... not famliar... never had one.

All these figures were gasoline motors. I wouldn't put a glow motor on anything over 11-12 lbs. Too much fuel, mess, and the large glow motors are almost as expensive as gas. etc...

I don't do cambered scale jobbies, but I'm guessing you can use about 60-70% of the motor on one. This would be to be validated by someone else though.

As big a motor as your wing loading target will allow!
