The Klass Kote Guy here.. :+)) Gordon Currie is my name.
Certainly our Klass Kote product should work. Its cheaper than the automotive and not as dangerous chemical wise to use. We have 1/2 pint cans (I could probably even get you a 1/4 pint can) and its fuel proof and comes in the satin (matte) finish you are looking for.
As far as working on the Tamiya paint, it should work fine but we do recommend you test a small area first. Klass Kote Epoxy will bond to just about anything. In the past, we have had the odd client who sprayed it over top of enamels and the painted lifted. BUT.....not between the enamel and the KK product, but between the fiberglass or wood and the enamel.
Our website is at www.klasskote.ca and we have information there. For the minimal cost, you might want to consider an airbrush as an option. We use and sell Iwata and they work very well.
Lastly, we stock reducer as well for your project.
Good luck and sorry for the delay in posting....we are just in the process of launching new product and I have been working on getting out packages to the hobby shops.
