On the lake behind my country place I have a flock of about three dozen mute swans. So far they have not interfered with my attempts at flying, but I expect they may. They are to a Canada Goose like 747 is to a 727 in size.

Morning All

We contract out to have our flying area and pit area cut once a week, 1 inch or so. First cut was yesterday. Cutting of the flying area takes 45 minutes with two machines (600 feet by 150 feet) The off field area will be cut every two weeks. During heavy growth we may cut twice a week or before an event. No more fertilizing. Rolling will be done end May or early June.

Members can bring out their push machines any time they want.

Just waiting for the first cougar spotting (one seen near London Ontario but not official until you pack in a carcass and you can't shoot them because they're protected....)

A cougar sighting in London Wth a bar on every street corner I would have thought many cougar sightings would have happened by now?

Grass cutting

Hello Jacksost You are correct that we manicure our field but that is the mowers not the mowee. We have two 10 HP 84'' wide National mowers.
These have reel mowers(golf course style) not rotary so we are shearing the grass, not cutting it and I think they do an excellent job. The cutting height was set at 3/8 of an inch but increased to 1/2 an inch a few years ago. I should mention that our airfield was once a golf course turned into a sod farm turned into an airfield. It is roughly 500x500 feet square and takes 1 hour and 15 minutes to cut. We fertilize once every 2-3 years. Spray for weeds every a year. It gets rolled every year and with a little rain looks great. Never heard any complaints about the length of our grass but with reel mowers you can't let it get too long or you can't cut it.
I have been on some fairways that are not as nice as our field, but that is just my opinion

Couple days ago i took out the lawn tractor and cut grass of both runways and pit area, it took me 3-4 hrs to do it but its now super at 1/2" tall only, we did pressed both runways couple weeks ago and reorganised whole layout of field, so now its preety good, i will try to keep grass about there by mowing it every week or so depanding on my work times....we did fertilaise some spots where grass is dried out on new runway and its growing slowly...
Do sign the petiton. We could Save our Connie CF-TGE, We still have chance, Once gone we will lose our History and Heritage forever....
