Thanks guys. Bob your thoughts are the same as mine - have to represent Canadian aviation history everytime we can - a local hero for me was just too much to resist. I plan to do up a nice info sheet on Bill Atikinson to take with me whenever I have the opportunity to publicly display her. Hopefully I can fly her with justice...gained a little more weight than I was aiming for... The H9 Cat really is a sweetheart flyer so it should be okay.

There is a full build/mod thread here:

Guess I really should have posted more here, on a strictly CDN site, but that's where I post most stuff so it seemed natural - plus they host bigger pictures.

Looks great Hepdog. I maidened a shiny H9 Hellcat this morning for a Nexstar pilot in our club. He put a US 26 gasser in it with the ignition battery and some lead in the tail. Flew beautifully. Every landing was a nice three pointer, even the 2 deadsticks. I’m curious to see how the gear holds up on our less than perfect grass field. I may pick up a set of the H9 rotating retracts for my 56” span Corsair…they’re only $30.

The gear is amazingly durable. 50+ flights on mine all from grass with alot of not so nice landings and they are still just fine.

Re-maidened sucessfully the base Cat. Next flights include bombs and drop tank - if I get courageous.
