Got out flying yesterday, quite gusty with wind direction swinging to all points of the compass, but mostly 90 degree crosswind.

Past frustration and suffering "go fever", I test flew my Pitts S2c anyway... non event, all went well.

The afternoon brought stronger gusts so I decided not to tempt fate and went home with plane intact and a big smile on my face. I spent the afternoon repairing my old spitfire (replaced fuel soaked motor mount rails).

Nearly lost my Orville in gusty Sunday afternoon at Rideau

Ya it was incredible to watch the weather go from light winds to gale force in a matter of an hours time. There was 3-4 of us sitting on patio at the Rideau RC Flyers and all we made note of how the clouds were growing in size so fast.

I thought I get one more flight in before it got too windy to fly. I had my Orville on the table for fuel filling and the second I turned my back to pickup my radio. Orville jumped up and flipped over and landed on the grass upside down. Luckily for me the grass was long and the Blue M&M pilot being a plush toy absorbed 90% of the impact I figured. Luckily no damaged.

I left Orville on the ground and grabed my Draco combat Coroplast wing and had a blast flying - Coroplast is expendable Orville is not! enough said!

PS: less than 2 weeks to the SMALL event and Iam praying for nice weather. ie no wind or rain Thankyou!

Windy Days

Well. it's been almost two weeks of holidays, worked like a dog to try and get things ship shape around the ranch so I can do some flying and not get behind. Well good old winds here in Ontario have allowed me to get out to the field twice. Managed to maiden my Super Aeromaster with our flight instructer.
Now I know why I invested in a RC truck Hope the later part of the season cooperates!?!?
Gotta love a Cub ?!?!?
