Looking at putting on a war bird rally next year, how many of you would be interested. This will be for 80” and larger.

I know that there are a lot of us war bird flyers here so please jump in and let me know... this will be held in Southeast Ontario if I can the numbers up.

Ok, lets try this, 1/6 scale and up.

What is a war bird. WW1/WW2
If it was used in the war ether for moving troops or used ats target practise, then to me its a warbird.

I'd be interested, but why the 80" minimum? There are a lot of warbirds in the 70" range or even 65" plus size. But yes would be interested none the less.

Same interest and comment with another; how do you define warbird?

Eg.
Inclusive definition: "Any aircraft designed or used for a military purpose including transport and training"

Exclusive definition: "WW2 fighters"

There has been a lot of debate on this over the years.

WW1 count?? I think 80" might be a little big for minimum. How about 60-70". Lots of WWII 1/5 and 1/6 fit that size

I think you're limiting yourself. Warbird rally sure.

I like the idea, but limiting it to only 1/6 scale & up only.......alot of Brian Taylor's designs (a very well known designer) are closer to 1/7 scale. My Typhoon is something silly like 1/6.86. The majority of the Top Flite kits are 1/7 scale, I beleive.

Again, I think you're limiting yourself. There are plenty of subjects from the Korean War, Vietnam (skyraider comes to mind), and the modern stuff (a certain local F-22 comes to mind too).

Let's face it, scale is just a portion of our hobby, warbirds are an even smaller portion. (as Randy has shown) I'm sure you don't want to limit your event down to 8 airplanes.

Just my humble opinion. I hope that you do pull it off, I will be there (if my Typhoon counts). Please don't take this as criticism. I hope that more scale\warbird events start popping up in the future.

Chris
