I will be finishing up my Hawker Typhon this fall an was thinking of putting in my US 41. Some people think this will not be enough power and I should put in a Zenoh 45. The wing span will be 84" . The weight so far is 16 lbs . The wing is glassed and the retracts are installed, tail is finished and covered, servoes are installed in the fuse but it has not been glassed.
Nothing has been primed or painted.
Any thoughs on this .
Thankes Ted

So then if you add 3 1/2 lbs for the engine are at 19 1/2 lbs.
The flying speed would be realistic, but the takeoff run would be a bit longer. What kind of field do you fly from?

I have owned both engines and they should both work well. The G45 will turn an 18/10 prop about 150-200 more rpm. Given the choice the 45 is smoother and very reliable. If you want massive power a G 62 weights the same as the g45 and can be purchased on e bay from Nevada for 265.00 USD minus the prop hub and backing plate. JM

I am around the same with my bird I am building and am going to use a Poulan 42 on it. My theory is it will fly but how well. If not enough then it is what we used to do. (add power)
