Yes its sad in Victoria, I do not want to pay the fees at VRCM, I was a member there in the early 90's, when I was a kid, it was affordable then. Its not now. I still know the guys there, and get along with them great, but to much $$$$ for me. I hardly fly now. I need some new flying partners. I went flying once this year. I went up island to a heli meet. I just don't enjoy doing it much on my own.

When I was at Rocky point years ago, early 90's I think, one of the guys had connections at DND, that's how we got in. But for the life of me can't remember why it never fully materialized. It was a good spot.

What to do???!!!

The tech site is still viable until the fencing goes up. I saw it in late August, and all I could see was bureaucracies and attendant signs in its future. I still blame VRCM for the woes; they have had many opportunities to further the hobby, but their egos prevented such progressive thinking. They see sailplanes as frequency hogs, beginners as unimportant, and small models as a nuisance. After dealing with them for a couple of decades, and watching their recent attitudes, I have seen absolutely nothing to change my opinion.

A couple of my buddies are caught in the mess, and I do not envy them; even Vancouver has a better image, even in a city 5 times Victoria's size.

Lots of luck, guys, I get the feeling you will need it...

Hey, yes I agree with you about VRCM, way too much politics going on there, really stupid for a freakin RC field, where you just want to go have fun. I would really love to see another site open up with just a bunch of informal guys.
