Generosity in the hobby

A little back ground.
I found a kit at work (actually several). A Global Wacky Waco profile kit. It was missing a few parts (landing gear and cowl) and the plans with instruction manual. I googled the plane and found a link on RCU regarding a fellow building the same plane. He had already finished his and flew it. I contacted him about my dilema.
I contacted PointMagu last week regarding this kit.
I was really amazed at him and the people in this hobby for the generosity and willingness to help fellow modellers. Not only did he send me the plans and manual, he sent them for free and shipped them at his own expense from the U.S. to Canada. Shipped right to my door.
Don. I really appreciate this gesture and will return this gesture to the next person as you requested.
It's fantastic at the people to help for this great hobby.
I am thanking publically for your generosity.

Don. If you ever make it up this way, please feel free to contact me and we'll get together to fly this WACKY WACO.

Yes, the are a lot of great people in the hobby! It really does make you feel good to hear stories like this. People helping people is a big part of the hobby. Years ago, I donated my Sig Kadet to a kid that wanted to start flying but didn't have the resources to get it going. Next thing I know, a second flyer in my club is giving him the engine!! My uncle has passed a lot of his stuff down to me including planes and engines!! The next time we want to complain about something, we should all take a minute to remember the positive things in the hobby!!

It's just to bad that these people are now in the minority.

I don't think thats the case at all. At most events if someone is having problems people are more than happy to give out parts and help if they can. The hobby is just a little broader with smaller groups of interest, but for a large part everyone is more than willing to help.

One gent I can name of is Denmac. I needed a 1/12 British WWII pilot for a Tempest II. Dennis said he had one and sent it to me for free. Haven't seen many posts by him lately. Hope he's just busy flying!!

Another ( don't know his user name) is a member of our club. At our season closer event today we were chatting and I mentioned I had a Dynaflite Chipmunk and I was waiting to get the crank straightened on my Homelite 25cc, so I could put it in the Chipmunk. Paul said he had a 25cc Homelite sitting in his garage from a weed wacker that had lost it's head. "I'll donate it to you" was all he said. Cool now I just need an exhaust pipe welded on my muffler and I'm back in the air!!

I'm sure there are plenty more out there. Don't let the greedy, coniving underhanded individuals spoil your opinion of all us in this hobby there are plenty of good blokes out there!!

aerodream came to my rescue and not only helped me but at his expense. I owe him big time and he is a credit to rccanada as well.
I have been here a short time and found more members willing to share than anywhere else.

Thanks Guys

A good landing is when you, the pilot, can walk away !!!
