We've had one of the local law enorcement types bring his radar gun out to our field last year. A composite Roo with a P-120 showed an average upwind and downwind readings of 191 mph. Pretty close to the same at Bonnyville this year as well. Both were readings with professions running the guns. This is still far short of what we were seeing on Jeff's Bandit at Princeton last year though. Regardless of what the "natterin' nabobs" have to say, Bart's quote is not that far off of reality.....but in the US the same jets all fly slower of course!!......Ron

I don't think I mentioned anything about price but I know she interviewed the city reps, and maybe Dean - not sure about that. I tried to get into the organized part of the event, that is that turbine pilots need special certification and that AMA and MAAC rules applied to each countries pilots. Also mentioned how many pilots came from far away to fly at Princeton , ie. so that readers would realize how much income we 'distributed' to the city. I certainly didn't mention the over 200 mph speeds - which I really don't believe we do anyway.
I have had experience with reporters and try to keep things simple as it is hard for outsiders to put our sport into words that actually make sense - I think she did quite well. Bart |

Thanks Wayne.....my rain guage had 5.5" of water in it when I got home. The air was certainly a bit fresher here at home than some of the 100F+ we had a long the way.....r

Thanks Ron..that smoke helps me to see it when it turns into a dot in the sky... I just have to get used to the bank and yank style flying.....I can't believe how much elevator that thing needs in a turn....

Hey John, I'm a bit late with this post, but I wanted to say thanks for taking and sharing these excellent photos. It sure helps to make up for the pics that I didn't take, and for the quality of the ones that I did. Your talent with the camera is outstanding. I know,,, the camera makes you look good Thanks again, Steve

Hi Guys
Sorry for not getting on here sooner but things have been quite busy since Princeton! First off - thanks to all of those that attended! We had 28 pliots and lots of great flying jets. The town was really impressed with the event as well which is a VERY GOOD THING! Bart and I will be discussing this years event in detail and working on getting the event planned again for 2007. We all had so much fun that the question came up....we should do this more often. So, guys how about a " jet together " in the Pacific NorthWest ( Alta incl. ) sometime in the spring of '07 ! Lets start some discussions...... Dean W. www.pstna.com |
