Use a thin smear on the flange that mates to the exhaust port on the engine. DO NOT use the gaskets that many engine manufacturers supply. They will eventually burn away and cause problems ( ya - loose fit).

Also put the red silicone on the threads of the screws that tighten your fittings to the exhaust manifod. This is your "loctite" for the screws. Lockwashers are not needed if you follow this procedure.

For best results let the assembly cure overnight so the silicone completely cures.
