i would get a gy401, becuase if you find you like helis youll want one you can fly for years, and a gy240 wont cut it on a 30 machine if you start doing aerobatics. alternatively, if you find helis arent for you, you can eaisly sell it. poeple snatch 401's up like hotcakes.
i use a jr 8103 with my 401 with no issues, along with clubmates that use it on 9303's without issues.
like matteus said, the 401 is designed to be used with a computer radio. if you dont use a comp radio, you will find they are a pita to setup, but still doable. youll also want at least a 7ch rx. i recently had to test rx's. the only spare i had was a 6ch. it was a huge annoyance to config the radio to use gear as the switch.
you said you have a jr radio, which one?
i would sway away from jr gyros. they make nice radios, but futaba are gyro kings imo.
