This may be my Christmas gift for this year, but have one serious question: how vertical is the band in the cutting zone?

I had a Dremel and now have a Sears scroll saw that goes through wood like hot knives and butter.

Downside has always been the same -- both had enough of an offset to the arm that the vertical cuts could be up to 10 degrees off. Nothing in a 1/8 piece of balsa, but serious when working with anything larger than a quarter-inch thick.

However I do like the Roger's phrasing of going the way of the big bang -- bang as in an inappropriate word referring to an act between two people.

I found with my (old) Dremel scroll saw it cuts on angle also. A trick I learned was to clamp a short peice of wood top and bottom back far enough so you have clearance. I use a 1 x 2 with 2 clamps and it straightens it out quite a bit. Not perfect but close.
