i have a Showtime 4D 90 and im just setting it up. i have a JR XP6102 radio and i was wondering if anyone knows how to use 2 separate channels for elevator and 2 for ailerons. i know how to do it for just ailerons but not both. Maybe i shou;d use a Y-harness and just trim them on the ball links manually. ( then i have an extra channel for smoke ) man i wish the 7202 had been out sooner. then i would've got it instead of a 6er.

Hey Stephen,

The 7202 is a pretty good little radio, but I'm sure you can do it with your radio.

Try putting the second elevator servo in an Aux channel and use one of the free mixers to create an ELE/AUX mix.

I just looked at the manual and it looks do-able on the 6102. A friend of mine has a 6102, let me know if you run into any issues and I can borrow it to find a programming solution.

connect the other elev to the gear channel (5). In mix 4, it has to mix 4 as it is the only mix that allows the use of trim, use the elev as the master and gear as the slave. use 100% mix for both up and down. You may need to reverse the gear channel to make things work.

Now, tape a piece of stiff material i.e. cf tube to the elevs so the the tubes meet past the rudder. use exactly the same spot on each elevator and the same angles. Use subtrim to get them exactly the same at neutral. Go full up in hi rate and see if the elevs match. and the same with full down elev and see if they match. If they do not increase/ decrease the mix values so the rods taped to elevs match. Now try mid stick and they should be very close. You can do further refining by using the mix values coupled with travel adjustment.

As you can imagine with a y harness this would not be possible. 2 servos are never the same but by mixing the elevs on separate channels you can get them very close.
Also a y would require a reverser that if ever failed (it has happened) would instantly crash your plane.

Y harness are the devil unless you are using programable servos and by that point a power box.
