Rust around the crank??

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
I got a new engine that had been sitting for a year or two and it has some rust in around the crank. It was ceased up when I first got it so I filled it up with after run oil. I then waited got it turing nice and free cleaned her all up (there is still a little rust in there though). My question, is there anything more I can do for this girl to make sure she is tip top for a flight?

Thanks Dan

It is a common problem If you havn't I would take it apart and clean it with paint thinner or something that will disolve the oil and junk in it. You want to flush and lightly oil the bearings as the rust will grind them up. When dismantling make sure you take note on which way the cylinder is in the bore. If backwards it will run but not very well. Any questions pop it on as lots of us will answer.
