I never had an issue with heli's in our club (ASRCM), but, then again, a Blade CP puts up very little fight against my 30% Edge and its 22x10 CF Mejzlik prop!

But seriously, beginners can benefit from a heli pad, but once proficient, you should be in the pattern and calling any runway activities just like the fixed wing guys. Play safe 'n have fun.

Oh great are the days when my takeoffs equal my landings!!!

I believe everyone is entitled to their 15 minutes of fame. The two can coexist with a great deal of entertainment. The problem, Joe Smith is 3Ding his heli and Burt Skimp takes off with his scratchbuilt holy cow. Joe scares Burt once or twice cause he's pushing his skill level so Burt lands yelling at Joe.

Burt was in the wrong, Burt should have waited till Joe was finished if he doesn't like flying with heli's, (a whole 10 minutes) and Burt could have walked the flight line asking for a turn with no heli's, if there was another waiting etc..........

Turn the table around, had Burt been in the sky then Joe took off 3D'ing, you would have to educate Joe.

Same for the heli guys, communicate with the flight line, ask if the fixed wing guys mind if you go up, share your intentions. If both parties just bend a little bit, it will work!

I am a/was a heli guy
I think that as heli pilots we are the minority, we have to give the respect to the fixed wing guys. Let's face it, our/your machine is dangerous, radical, noisy, unpredictable and at present time for the most part unwelcome. You/I can turn that around by extending couteous notice, and even backing down for Will Smith to maiden his holy cow
Sometimes it may be neccessary to inform others you have been waiting long enough MY TURN. Everyone will know who is in the wrong and should help educate other pilots!

Nothing worse than two faced grown men
