I left my JR transmitter with a hobby shop here in Ontario that claimed to be a JR service dealer. They had it two weeks and had not looked at it. I wanted the memory battery changed. I sent it to Horizon in the mail and had it back in 12 days. Transmitter batteries replaced, a 10 channel receiver fixed at no charge and range etc. checked out. I am good to go and suspect I would have still been waiting for service from the more local guys. I think for JR stuff the only choice is Horizon.

Re: Udisco

Thanks for the input guys I think I dodged a bullet.I'll send the radio to the states. Too bad there's no one reliable in Canada that does radio work.

Just came across this post.

The last time I dealt with UDISCO, 2001(?), I requested them to refurbish (narrow band) and tune and check a couple of Gold series FM transmitters. All went well. Although for the price of the conversion, I could have purchased new radios; live and learn. Things must have changed between then and now; too bad.

I might be mistaken, but as I search through the cobwebs of my mind, I seem to recall that at one time, back in the 70s and 80s, UDISCO was the only Canadian authorized distributor of Futaba products. In fact you could not purchase a pure "Futaba" radio. They were called Futaba/UDISCO. And, again if I'm not mistaken, Canadian modellers were not permitted to use Futaba - only Futaba/UDISCO. The reason had something to do with FCC/CRTC frequency and/or licensing.

Can anyone confirm or refute my recollection? I hope this is not simply a case of me sniffing too much nitro-methane, again I gotta cut back to 10%
