For a lipo battery you have to make sure you push the button three times or you are charging it wrong.

Here is how you use that charger...

1) Set desired charge rate on dial.
2) Push button to start - Once for Nicads, twice for NiMh and three times fro Lipos.

If you only pushed the button once then you were charging on the Nicad setting. You were luck it didn't blow the battery.

I was charging NiMh once, in my van driving to the field, when I saw smoke swaft past my face. Turned around and my H9 33% Edge 540 had smoke coming out of every whole in the fuse. Pulled over and got airplane out, removed hatch and found one of the 2 batteries I had been charging, completely melted.

Only thing I can figure out is that I pressed the button the wrong number of times so the charger missed the peak voltage and didn't switch over to trickle.

i was lucky that the foam rubber the battery was wrapped in smothered it and the foam melting was what caused the smoke. How toxic? Only time will tell. Damage to aircraft was just some scorched covering but it could have been a lot worse as I had 16oz of gasoline, not glow fuel in the tank and at least 5 gallons more inside the van. It was a ticking time bomb that luckily was a dud.

checkout Hobbico's web site you might be able to download a manual or instruction sheet if your used unit didn't come with it.

Check the volts on the lipo to see if its charged. Also that has happened to me before and what had happened is the leads on the battery were broken so the charger noticed a problem and started to beeb, but i think it was a steady beeb not a 7 second beeb like when its charged.

pretty sure you have a bad connection or bad cell in your lipo the charger isnt turning on.plug the pack into the charger use the meter spots to check the voltage of the pack. with a volt meter 3.96 or so on mine is a single cell and 8.07 is the voltage it shuts off at on a two cell. 3.1 and 7.4 are where i find them when they need recharging. probably just a bad connection

was your lipol already charged? If your battery was brand new it might have come charged...tho usually it will take longer than minute to peak it out and determine its charged I think.

Hi There
Mine was doing the same thing. I sent it back and they ended up replacing the unit, no problems.

It will also start beeping if you have the battery connections backwards to the charger. I've done that a few times. The hobbico field charger is designed to withstand the backwards battery connection without damage.
