electrics rechargeable--or field box

I'm new into this and would like to know if the 12volt battery in a field box with panel for glow plug/and starter is still the way to go ,i noticed some are using a recharge type starter ,no field box

Do you have an electric starter? If so you will need the field box and battery.

Most guys I know have both.

I personally prefer the field box with the power panel . When you hook up your glow plug the needle on the meter moves telling you that you have a complete circuit and glow is lit. The higher the needle reads the hotter the glow. To High a needle setting now needle go boom no more move burned out glow plug. You learn real quick where to set the needle. Not trying for a highjack here but what is the name of the wire and what is it worth now. Last time I heard the price (10 some odd years ago)just blew me away.It was $1700.troy ounce
