Flap Install on Kadet Senior

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
Hello all, I am posting this question on behalf of my father. He has built a Kadet Senior and would like to install a set of flaps. He does not want flaperons, he wants flaps. The airplane was a kit and he has built into the wing half the required dihedral as he has installed ailerons. I would like anyone out there who has any pictures, diagrams, drawings etc to help him out. He has his heart set on this. He is a very accomplished builder but requires some direction on servo placement and flap design.
Please do not ask me to talk him out of this as I have already tried and he seems quite focused, (re: stubborn).
Thanks, awaiting your replies.

I do have a modification sheet for the ailerons which wwould apply to flaperons as well. You are welcome to a photocopy of it.

Never mind "talk him out of it"; cheer him on! I have a Kadet Senior, kit version, that was given to me in pieces after the owner dumped it. When I finally get back to it it will have flaps as well as ailerons, two engines and be a taildragger!

Go for it!

Take a look at these two pics from a Telemaster 40 Split the strip ailerons 60% ailerons and 40% flops then you can use the old aileron linkage for flaps. Use two aileron servos out on the wings and move the flap servo to the middle of the wing cord.

Great Idea. There was an old RCM design called the Guppy that had dihedral and flaps. Climbed like an elevator. Landed dead slow.
