Decals? No Decals? How do I make them look right?

Ok. I've got my new GP Patty Wagstaff 90% complete. I've got it assembled on my kitchen table with some of the decals temporarily flopped into place. For sure, this plane will look a little nicer with the ads properly installed, but in the past I've always regretted putting decals on covering. I find that by the end of the first season they're discoloured a bit, especially at the edges. I also find that the transparent background on letters and shapes is not really all that tranparent - You can easily see the cut lines on the clear parts.
For now, my plan is to put the decals on hold. This plane has nice lines, so it will be far from naked without the ads, but I'm open to suggestions.
If you're not part of the solution... you may be insoluble!

Personally - I don't like decals.
Fly it as you see it, enjoy the simplicity of you colour scheme.
