While hardly and experienced r/c pilot, I will vouch for one thing that the sims can teach a newbie pilot.
The eye hand coordination required to fly towards and away from ones self without getting all twisted up. Maybe noobs won't understand tip stalls, etc. etc. but at least they'll roll the right way when crashing, lol.
Sims do have their place. It's just that they're not flight instructors. A good sim pilot with a good instructor, will make a good r/c pilot.
BTW, the way I think when I fly is as if I'm sitting in the pilots seat. I might be seeing it from the ground, but really, my mind is up there
