Back up battery for glow plug?

I am wondering if anyone here has heard of using a battery back up for the glow plug when Flying in the extreme cold weather like i have been doing....I heard from someone that there was something u can attach to your glow plug with a battery at the other end and when Flying in the cold this will prevent a dead stick due to the extreme cold.
I have been Flying in all weather, Blizzards and extreme cold like -20 or so....I have had a couple dead sticks in the -20 weather and was told it could be because the glow plug was to cold and did not stay lit.

If anyone has any ideas of such a gizmo for the glow plug or has seen one, could u please let me know what u think.

perhaps get a remote glow and attach a battery to it? or get a hotter plug? i think getting a remote glow and attaching a battery would work, but it would reduce your glow plug life and you would have another battery to charge.

battery back up

I have a 1000mh battery on board . On the throttle servo I use a disc type arm , I also have a small limit switch it has a n arm with roller on it sits over the servo disc , the disc is cut so that there is a space when normal throttle positions are used , & as soon as the throttle cuts back to a 1/4 throttle the disc hits the arm on limit switch & kicks in the batt; supply to the plug . So batt ; not always on until low end of eng; The harness for batt; /plug etc is also wired so that one can charge the batt seperate . I use it to start up etc , have a seperate on/off switch for that batt; For double safety of not leaving batt; switched on I usually put the stick on throttle fwd after eng; shut down

I had an older Four stroke that would not run reliably without glow power. I used a 4000 mah Nicad cell with a simple on -off switch and left it on the whole time I was flying. The battery lasted for at least one days flying and also provided a nice bit of nose weight which I needed. The connection to the plug can be either a device purchaced from a hobby shop or a dome snap from a ladies dress snap set - from a fabric store.

Simple system and has worked well for many years.

If you are interested, I have a programable glow driver with battery and charger that I will probably never use......
