Rolling circle from wayback

I flew R/C A/C from late 1965 untill 1980 and I am getting back into it. somewere in the pile of websites that I visited lately was a description of how to do a rolling circle. I tried all that top rudder and never could get it timed right. I discovered a much simpler way. First of all set your C of G at about 35% of the wing cord, the trick is start a roll and as the wings pass vertical give the appropriate up or down elevator. For example when the top is toward you, pull in up elevator, then as the bottom rolls toward you put in down elevator. You will get a rythum and steering the A/C in any direction just requires a little more elevator in that direction. I could go around the field in a rolling circle for as long as the fuel lasts. This was probably about 1976. By the way I have $16,000.00 worth of Ultra-Light A/C stuff forsale!

It is easier to learn how to do a rolling circle rolling to the outside of the circle. roll left input right rudder leading and down elev trailing. follow with leading left rudder and up elev trailing. so On so forth. Yes you can do with with elev only but the airplane flops and you cannot slow it down or do a four roll circle or less.
I finally figured out one roll circles last year and for a real mind bend almost got rolling circles with a change in roll direction while maintaining the same circle. Now we have rolling harriers. This is a rolling circle with the plane in a stalled nose high condition.

Things are more fun now for some of us, but not for all I guess
