I have had 2 MID star 40's and they are great airplanes to fly. They will still fly reasonably slow, but open them up and burn holes in the sky and decent aerobatics too.

Being a trike design, and a mid wing configuration, not much chance of dragging a tip on the ground.

As a matter of fact, we used to put a skid on the tail and do high speed taxi runs down a paved runway, with the nose held off the ground, running around on just the mains.

My last one, I ran an ASP 46 heli engine with a tuned pipe on it. Lotsa HP, but didn't fly any faster.. lol.. but great vertical. And still come in slow for landing.

I am going to resurect my last one, and fly it this summer for fun flys and just cuz.. lol.... makes a good second or third plane too
happy flying

The best 2nd airplane around.Great kit too especially if you are learning.
Often have thought it would be an excellent trainer with a buddy box and the throws cut back.
Last one I built was the 4/120 version with a Ryobi gas conversion which is a really good and as cheap as it gets first giant gasser.Did it up as a ME109.Sold it eventually and its now on its third owner last I heard.

If you would consider the kit (it's a real easy build), you might want to replace the rear stringers with basswood. Right behind the canopy is where you tend to put your hand when you use an electric starter. You have to be careful not to squeeze too hard.

If you tend to land harder than normal, the other area of re-enforcement is the bottom of the fuse right behind the wing.

It is a great flying plane though. You're going to enjoy it
