checking servos

i just suffered my first crash and now on the process of repairing my trainer. how do you check for damaged servos before going back to the flying field?

Turn them by hand, and make sure the gears don't skip. If they don't skip, you haven't broke any teeth off the gears.

If the servos are decent and they do skip, you should be able to buy replacement gears. Some cheaper servos don't have replacement parts.

Plug them in see if they work. Watch for any jerkiness that could indicate damaged gears. If the servo travels all the way over to one side then the gears could be stripped or ther could be an electrical problem. AS they move grab hold of the output arm, if it moves as strong as it did befor the servo is probably OK. Inspect the wire and plug. If there is any sign of damage be carefull before using it. Take the top of the case off and inspect the gears.

To sum up. If the servo looks undamaged and works as it did before the crash it is probably OK
