I have been looking into the trex600 a bit, how does the stock align setup work? I have read that their motor had some issues early on. Also, what battery would you run (#cells and capacity) for hard 3D?

I have one of the early 600 kits and have noticed no problems whatsoever with the motor or controller. In fact I find the setup to be fantastic .

Go with flightpower 6s 25c 5000mah packs for the rex600.
The last kit my buddy bought actually came stock with the xl motor.

Very 3d- able, more power and lighter than any nitro .50 I've tried.
It's a brick next to the logo though !

As NTM said the 25C 6S1P 5000mah packs really work well indeed for the rex. The stock esc and motor work just fine. I would however not use the stock rx lipo and regulator, instead get a BEC and lose the weight and hassle of another battery. I run BECs in all my big electrics and they work 100%. Anyhow bang for the buck the 600s are great, abit heavier for a 50 electric for sure but they can be very nimble indeed. The head design really helps this heli allot in many ways to be able to pop it around nicely. If you do not choose the 600 as NTM also stated the much anticipated Logo 500 and Logo 600s are out soon as well, they will be the krem de la krem guranteed but it will come at a higher cost for the kits with no motor or escs.

Whatever you do, have fun.

I use a UBEC to eliminate the rcvr batt. and the best part it's made here at the hub of the universe out in BC called Herculese and made by Western Robotics. Do a Google seach. Will operate up to 8 servos.
Tried for my kamikazi pilots licence. Flunked the test.
