Geez dude 35% of a garbage truck is pretty big, they gotta be at least 28' long.

Just givin you the gears man, I still think the McGyver thing is cool. Nothing like the satisfaction of building your own plane from scratch.
Haha

You have no idea how close you are. I got parts for my last plane from behind a dumpster, and would definatly not be ashamed to grab parts from the local dump!

Good point about the leverage, you have to make some decent sacrifices to the volcano gods to prevent an eruption

When will this bad-boy be in the air? Whats with this crating it up and shipping it east thing? Us lowly RC noobs don't understand the ways of you crazy 35% SOB's.

The plane has to be shipped to BC from Ontario. I am building a crate and sending it to the guy I am buying the plane off. He will put the plane in the box I built and send it to me.

I figure 2 weeks give or take.
102" MOFO wingspan thats one big SOB

Man. That is so awesome!

Looks like I wont be touching the tail this season after all. We're taking off in a week! I might make an "off-topic" post on RCC to regale some travelling adventures.

Ben

Here is the crate I am sending for the Yak.
The interior is 30" high, 16"1/4 wide and 96" long. The front dowel is to go into the wing tube and the pipe insulation to be cut so it holds the plane side to side. The rear dowel is for the back of the plane to sit on with holes for a bungee to go over the rear fuse. The rear dowel is extremely well padded. The handles are high making it very unlikely to be loaded upside down. I can stand on the crate so it is plenty strong. I would gestimate the weight w/o plane to be 30-40lbs.

I think your crate is too long.

I got these dimensions off their website...Maybe they've changed.

What are your package weight and size restrictions?
The maximum weight per package is 100 pounds. The extreme measurements of length, width, and height shall not exceed 30" x 47" x 82".

Hmmmmm, thats not good. the plane would not fit in an 82" box.

What if you had the plane on an angle inside the box? How long would it be then?
