The older I get, the more faith I have in mankind.
Thursday morning was perfect for flying,so I packed up my shiney, new, never flown 4*60 and headed for the field.
A slight breese and a few clouds.Perfect for a maiden flight.
Preflight inspection and range check showed we were ready to go.It tracked beautifilly down the runway and lifted off About 30 feet up it banked slightly to the left, requireing a touch or right aileron.
WELL HOLY Sh..! All of a sudden we're inverted and heading for the ground.
What a great show of unintended aerobattics.Everything took about 4 sec. and my new plane was 50 ft up a maple tree.
It was still there yesterday morning when I checked.Well this mornings e-mail contained a message from the Gremlin's web master to all club members, stateing that an airplane was found in the ditch beside 24 hwy. and had a phone # to call.
The fellow who found it was out cycleing and saw it laying in the ditch. He couldent carry it on his bike so he hid it in some bushes, rode back home,app.8 miles to get his car and take the plane home.
Now he didn't know who flew at the field,so he took a chance and contacted our web master, and left his phone number.
After calling him and arranging a meet,I went and picked it up.
Wow,what a gentleman. After putting himself out so much he didn't want to take a reward, but finely took $20 for the gas he burned .
When you through life you deal with so many dick-heads that you tend to forget about the nice honest people out there, and they are still around, and it makes my day to find one.
So Brian from Rockwood,my hat is off to you. MANY THANKS
