Crystal Swapping

Hello Colleagues:
I have a JR 652 transmitter with an original crystal on Channel 32, and I would like to fly two other planes I have which are on channels 22 and 42 respectively with this same transmitter. Can anyone see anything wrong with simply putting a channel 22 or 42 crystal in the Tx as needed? I hear conflicting stories about this one. Thanks for educating me.

From What I have heard it not adviseable to change the crystal in your TX. My suggestion would be to simply purchase RX crystals to match your TX32 channel. Your may be able to trade for the ones you need. There was a thread on here dealing with crystal trading.

Transmitters are usually fine tuned for the frequency they are set to, you can change the crystal but you might shorten up your range a bit by doing so, My recommondation would be to do as aceplant00 suggested, and change the crystals in your receivers to match your transmitter.

I would not do this, this has a huge potential for disaster. It would be very, very easy to put the pin up wrong, or change xtals and forget to move your pin, and shoot someone down!

I picked ch25 years ago because only one other guy, who hardly flies, is on it. ALL my rx's are on 25. I have seen to many planes go in because the tx is on the wrong model, never mind changing xtals.

The other thing I would be very concerned about is the crystal input posts becoming worn and the crystal simply falling out of the tx while you are flying.
